   Important Files There are three important files for a client to play Telepresence System at ImageLab node.
  1. .clientrc, is the default configuration file for the IIIF clientshell program. It saves several simple phrases, which stand for some long IIIF transactions.
  2. clientshell, is an interactive program for entering IIIF transactions from a Unix shell. A client on a Unix shell should run this program to logon to the given IIIF server before sending any transaction.
  3. ImageLab, is a script program for the client named ImageLab to logon to dolf IIIF server.
How to Configure The following steps should be down at bogie.
  1. Copy the configuration file: .clientrc from directory /home/shuyang to your home directory /home/$yourLoginName;
  2. Make sure that the executable file, clientshell, exists in the directory /home/shuyang/telep/runtime/bin;
  3. Copy the script file: ImageLab from /home/shuyang to your home directory.

How to Play at Imagelab Node

Imagelab node is a client node of dolf IIIF server. The node includes a microphone, a speaker, a camera, a TV monitor, as well as a Sun SPARC 20 workstation, named as bogie. All the audio/video devices are at the office of Prof. Coll, and connected to IIIF A/V switch by coaxial cables through ImageLab (ME4490) and DAN A/V switch at the conferencing room (ME4359). The workstation bogie is on the SCE-network. The following are instructions to play Telepresence System at this node.
  1. Logon to bogie with your LgoinName on SCE-network;
  2. In your home directory, run ImageLab script program. Then you will get the prompt of IIIF server clientshell, >;
  3. Enter the alias responding to the desired IIIF transactions. All transactions support to list the names of logged on users, to check the connection status of imagelab node, and connect/disconnect imagelab node to other node on the system. The current connection will be partly released by a new connection command, talk-, except the connection from Window-Camera to imagelab monitor, which will automatically hold on. The current connection can be hung up by the disconnection command, bye-. It is recommended to use the pair of talk- and bye- commands in each session. When you have finished all transactions, go to next step;
  4. Enter exit to quit from IIIF server, and return to the Unix shell.

Description of Alias

  1. list, to print the information about the nodes, to which it is available to connect imagelab node.
  2. connections, to print the connection status of imagelab node.
  3. talk-uott/bye-uott, to bidirectionally connect/disconnect with the JPEG card in ATM switch, which is connected to an ATM JPEG card in MCR lab of the University of Ottawa over ATM link.
  4. talk-dick/bye-dick, to bidirectionally connect/disconnect with the JPEG card in ATM switch, which is connected to the ATM JPEG card in Social Science Research Building (SSRB) over ATM link.
  5. talk-shuyang/bye-shuyang, to bidirectionally connect/disconnect with the node at TelePresence Room (ME4295).
  6. talk-sceconf/bye-sceconf, to bidirectionally connect/disconnect with the node at Conferencing Room (ME4359).
  7. mirror/bye-mirror, to turn on/off loop-back connections.
