Policy on Control of Web Site

In response to questions about who controls the content
of our web site, here is a statement of the department policy on this
matter. In each case, the person listed is responsible for the content
of the relevant web pages, and has write access for those pages. As expected,
the system administrator also has write access for all pages, but must
defer to the responsible person on questions of content.
- General Department pages:
- Department Chair or designate
- Undergraduate Studies pages:
- Associate Chair for Undergraduate Studies
- Graduate Studies pages:
- Associate Chair for Graduate Studies or Graduate Policy.
- Professor, Staff, Research Staff, Graduate Student pages:
- the top level pages:
- -- System Administrator maintains these so that
a consistent appearance is maintained. Professor, Staff, Research
Staff or Graduate Student can request the addition of links from
that page.
- lower level pages:
- -- the appropriate Professor, Staff, Research Staff,
or Graduate Student. Graduate students should see the
Guidelines for Graduate Student Web Pages
- Course pages:
- the professor offering the course. Course should be
linked from the standard course directory maintained by the
System Administrator.
- Laboratory pages:
- the Laboratory head.
A note about non-existing links: please do not ask the System
Administrator to create a link until the relevant page is complete.
Such non-existing links create a bad impression.
