Donations to the Department of Systems and Computer Engineering

The Department is thankful for these recent donations from our industrial partners. This state-of-the-art equipment will help to keep our students on the leading edge of real industrial technology and methodologies.

Mitel Networks and Analog Devices Voice-over IP Laboratory
This sophisticated telecommunications laboratory enables students to achieve hands-on experience and research excellence in emerging Internet Protocol (IP) technologies.

The lab is equipped with Mitel IP based March Networks 3200 Integrated Communications Platforms which include Mitel IP Phones, software applications and development tool kits. Analog Devices provided Digital Signal Processors and hardware and software development kits.

The total value of this donation is approximately $670,000.

Texas Instruments (TI) Inc. and Nortel Networks DSP Laboratory for Advanced Communications Research and Education
The laboratory gives students, faculty and industry the opportunity to collaborate on the development of new technologies for wireless communications, high speed data and voice over internet protocol (VolP) transmission.

The $500,000 laboratory was established through joint contributions including hardware and software donations.

Integrated Systems Inc. Development Tools
February 1999. This donation from Integrated Systems Inc. comprises 60 copies of the ISI development software for the design of real-time embedded software systems ( pRISM+, pSOS+, pROBE+, etc.) plus additional maintenance. This is leading-edge software for the design and analysis of real-time embedded software. Such embedded real-time software is finding its way into numerous everyday objects, for example automotive engine and brake controllers, mobile communications systems, etc.

The total value of this donation is approximately $950,000.

Dell Canada Computer Donation
November 1998. This donation from Dell Canada assisted in the purchase of 21 high-end pentium-II Dell PCs.

The total value of this donation is approximately $20,000.

Nortel Advanced Communications Software Engineering Research and Training Laboratory
July 1998. This donation from Telelogic and Nortel comprises 20 licenses for the Telelogic SDT/ITEX suite of software development tools with follow-up training and support, plus $50,000 towards the purchase of 20 pentium-II PCs. The new laboratory will be used for undergraduate and graduate education, for collaborative research and development, and for fast-track training.
