The Department is thankful for these recent donations from our industrial
partners. This state-of-the-art equipment will help to keep our students on the
leading edge of real industrial technology and methodologies.
- Mitel Networks and Analog Devices Voice-over IP Laboratory
- This sophisticated telecommunications laboratory enables students to achieve hands-on experience and research excellence in emerging Internet Protocol (IP) technologies.
The lab is equipped with Mitel IP based March Networks 3200 Integrated Communications Platforms which include Mitel IP Phones, software applications and development tool kits. Analog Devices provided Digital Signal Processors and hardware and software development kits.
The total value of this donation is approximately $670,000.
- Texas Instruments (TI) Inc. and Nortel Networks DSP Laboratory for Advanced Communications Research and Education
- The laboratory gives students, faculty and industry the opportunity to
collaborate on the development of new technologies for wireless communications,
high speed data and voice over internet protocol (VolP) transmission.
The $500,000 laboratory was established through joint contributions including
hardware and software donations.
- Integrated Systems Inc. Development Tools
- February 1999. This donation from Integrated Systems Inc. comprises 60 copies
of the ISI development software for the design of real-time embedded software
systems ( pRISM+, pSOS+, pROBE+, etc.) plus additional maintenance. This is
leading-edge software for the design and analysis of real-time embedded
software. Such embedded real-time software is finding its way into numerous
everyday objects, for example automotive engine and brake controllers, mobile
communications systems, etc.
The total value of this donation is approximately $950,000.
- Dell Canada Computer Donation
- November 1998. This donation from Dell Canada assisted in the purchase of 21
high-end pentium-II Dell PCs.
The total value of this donation is approximately $20,000.
- Nortel Advanced Communications Software
Engineering Research and Training Laboratory
- July 1998. This donation from
Telelogic and
Nortel comprises 20
licenses for the Telelogic SDT/ITEX suite of software development tools with
follow-up training and support, plus $50,000 towards the purchase of 20
pentium-II PCs. The new laboratory will be used for undergraduate and graduate
education, for collaborative research and development, and for fast-track
training.
The total value of this donation is approximately $3,400,000.
