Carleton Varsity

announced that seven of the eight teams cut have had their Varsity status
restored.  The Citizen notes that swimming was one of the sports with the
greatest amount of community support.  The press release is available here:
http://www.carleton.ca/duc/newsroom/NewsRelease-April30c.html,
and here’s a link to the Citizen article: http://www.canada.com/ottawacitizen/news/local/story.html?id=19d7eb18-4a80-425f-bdc3-1559c883416c&k=90646.

Swimmer
Notes
Swimmer
Updates:
   Tim
Kilby (Coach; Whitecaps “A”) reports that
he had his surgery on Mar 16th and is gradually getting back his
strength.  He’s now back in the water but still not allowed to lift
anything heavy.  His next check up is on May 15th.
   Sue
Dzioba (x-8:30am Earlybirds) reports that
she is still recovering from her shoulder injury.  Here’s her update
“Unfortunately, the clavicle is very unstable and the thoughts are that one of
the ligaments has torn completely, so a surgical procedure may be in order. In
July I'll find out for sure. Apart from that I can do the breast stroke and
that's all. I'm not supposed to run, bike, or do any swimming other than the
breast stroke.”
Big Swim for
Arthritis:  Congratulations to Margaret K (8:30am Earlybirds) and Sinisa Catic (Whitecaps “B”) participated
in this challenge.  If I missed anyone, do let me know.   It’s
not too late to make donations, see: http://www.bigswim.ca/. Vincent Richer from Technosport swam 100km
over 10 days (as it takes him about 30min per 1km this was a huge
undertaking)!  See his web site at: http://www3.sympatico.ca/vricher/.
