| Abstract: Over the past two decades there has been a considerable increase in radio communications. The hightened demand on the radio spectrum has led to renewed efforts to define and quantize the spectrum utilization efficiency. In this presentation, we review some known definitions of the spectrum utilization. We identify two approaches: absolute and relative efficiency. We argue that definitions based on relative measure of the spectrum utilization are more practical. We also review some measurable parameters of the radio spectrum and illustrate their use in practice. |
