Please note that the default departmental policy is to enforce each prerequisite for a course. Prerequisite waivers are not generally given unless extenuating circumstances exist. For instance, these circumstances might include advanced standing in a similar course from another institution or having taken a similar set of prerequisite courses within the university. Also, if a course has multiple prerequisites that you don't currently have, you should expect to be denied a waiver. Please only continue with your request if there is a justified reason for a prerequisite waiver.
Also note that, as per Section 1.5 of the Undergraduate Calendar, even if you are successful in registering for a course for which you do not have the prerequisite(s), you can be deregistered at any time for lacking the prerequisite(s).
. As of August 29 2011, the prerequisite waivers for courses offered by the department are evaluated by the Academic Support of the Faculty. Use the request form posted http://www1.carleton.ca/engineering-design/current-students/undergrad-academic-support/ or the email provided on that web site to request a prerequisite waiver.
